On May 18, the International Museum Day, our international students were invited to embark on a cultural journey at the China Museum of South China Sea, where they were immersed in the fascinating world of Baba Nyonya culture.
The students were treated to a special Baba-Nyonya Cultural Exhibition, which offered a vivid showcase of the unique heritage of the Baba-Nyonya community. They also participated in a Baba-Nyonya costume exchange experience, where they donned beautiful traditional attire.
Then the students attended a "Baba-Nyonya & Qionghai Tea Gathering." This event was a delightful mix of storytelling, tea tasting, and traditional snacks. The students enjoyed the opportunity to sit down, relax, and chat with museum staff, learning about the traditions, and customs over a cup of fragrant tea and delicious Nyonya pastries.
As the event came to a close, the students deeply feel the profound influence of Chinese culture on overseas cultures in terms of diet, clothing, architecture, customs, and other aspects. This experience further deepened their affection for Chinese culture and strengthened their determination to learn Chinese.
